Kevin Love Interrupts LeBron's Post-game Press Conference For A Team Selfie
Luis Campos was usually too busy with family obligations to go to parties. But he made an exception for his brother's bachelor party in Las Vegas. After all, he was going to be the best man. As Fox 5 Vegas reports, even getting the 45-year-old father of five from La Puente, California, to attend was difficult. His brother, Travis Garibay, told Fox 5: “We're all close brothers, but this was one of the first times we got to really hang out together. He's married and everything like that. He's busy with kids.” In fact, Luis had almost cancelled on the party altogether. His wife, Julie Campos, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that he'd considered staying with her that weekend after a back injury landed her in urgent care. But she insisted he go enjoy the weekend with his brothers. At 1:30 a.m. on April 30, Luis and his brother, Drake Garibay, were waiting in line outside the Vanguard Lounge when two men stopped and started an argument with Luis. Drake told the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “The taller guy walked right up to my brother's face and said something like, 'What are you looking at?' And he just struck my brother once. The whole thing was like, three, four seconds long.” Drake added that Luis did nothing to provoke the fight and didn't even know the punch was coming: “He didn't even get a chance to say anything. It wasn't even like they squared up. My brother turned his head, he didn't say one word, and [the stranger] struck him.” It may have been only one punch, but it was enough to send Luis to the hospital. The blow knocked Luis unconscious, and he fell to the ground. Drake cradled Luis's head and watched as the two men ran off. Luis was taken to the hospital, but he never regained consciousness. Four days later, he died of his injuries.
